Brief Description:  Flight #1, Flt test #1, First test flight !!, 35

Was a 60 degree day, a chance of rain, but that didn't materialize. Winds at PYM were 240 at 5-10 knots. Went to the airport to do some taxi testing to see how the plane handled on the ground for roll-outs and brake performance. The plane taxied straight, and the brakes would slow it down without pulling to one side or the other.
The traffic pattern was light, all engine indications were good, so I went to the runway. With 6 gallons of fuel and after final checks, lined up on runway 24. Decided on a no-flap takeoff, pushed the power up and started rolling. At about 30 mph started pulling the stick back slowly to keep the load off the nose gear. In short order I was airborn, having to put in some forward stick to keep the nose down, oops, a little too much, back a little, porposing a little, finally smoothing out and climbing at 90 mph and about 500fpm. Felt like a pretty ugly takeoff.
Once I settled things down, continued the climbout straight ahead, starting a departure turn at about 850 feet agl. Did climbing turns to 4000 feet keeping in glide distance to the airport. At 4000 feet, checked rudder response. Pushing right rudder caused a right roll and nose drop. Left roll and nose drop with left rudder. Must keep this on mind for the next takeoff so I don't put in too much rudder causing a roll and nose dip. The plane seemed to fly straight, didn't need to hold some rudder offset. Also seemed to hold wings level pretty well.
Did some 360 turns left and right at about 10 and 20 degree banks. No surprises there.
Slowed to 55mph for some flaps up slow flight checks. Felt very stable at that speed. Reduced power and maintained 55mph and 300-500 fpm descent to simulate a landing approach. No problem there. Vis over the nose is minimal in this configuration, more like a tail dragger doing a 3-point landing. Maybe better with flaps... maybe try it next time
Decended and had a smooth uneventful landing. Total flight was about 35 minutes.
